the rising mist of mornings twilight,
the red hot vapor of the setting sun,
you were the one, the only one.
Walls were broken down,
brick by bittersweet brick,
falling in slow motion,
a lifetime of heartbreak gone.
I could hear in the distance your cries
as you called out my name,
distance crushed, then cut out
the souls dancing in delight now despair.
Everything I needed was in you,
you lay low in the deep of me,
mistakes were made in innocence,
how could we see what hadn't come to be.
I cut your name in my flesh,
to carry as a reminder if memory should fail,
and when I watched the blood falling
it reminded me of the tears I would shed.
Who was wrong, who was right,
can there be an inbetween seen
before the heart is ripped out,
stomped apart on the ground
scattered to parts unknown.
Yes it was you who stole my breath,
along with my heart, and it was me
who lived in silence so long that when
I turned away the world faded before all
just like all moments shared die,
and lie in the dust of one more failured
trying that took and broke us,
how could I have known that
a black hole was in the making
when your lips first touched mine.
