Prithee sweet maid pt three.
The great day came and they were wed.
A whole new life now lay ahead
A future they must learn to share.
With much to learn on either side
The proud bridegroom and his new bride
and this they did successfully.
Together raised a family.
Part of my family history
From whom I'm proud to claim descent.
I boast about my ancestry
all high born aristocracy
Although the years have been unkind.
The family fortunes have declined.
Today you'd be hard pressed to find.
A wealthy member of the clan.
Though we can boast of our blue blood
It does not do a lot of good.
When you have bills you cannot pay.
Now as for me I thought it wise
to find a wife who satisfies
My appetites and creditors.
To wed for love a luxury
denied to me by poverty.
I had to choose one upon
My lady's worth and her value.
Luckily she combined the two.
A sordid tale but sadly true.
My lady knows and does not mind.
Perhaps because love can be blind
Though I believe she was prepared
to share her bank account with me.
So she could share my ancestry.
She claims a title now you see.
I am convinced nothing has changed.
That marriages were all arranged
for both sides to benefit.
But love can grow in spite of this
into a state of married bliss.
I am quite that this is true
I love my wife and she loves me
we live together happily
A dream for both of us come true
You can believe it's up to you
or disbelieve it as untrue.
I only aim to entertain.
If I succeed in pleasing you.
What does it matter if it's true?
or just pleasant fantasy.
